Mellow Yellow II

Hi Guys,

This is a quick post on one of my all time favourite summer fashion essentials- my yellow A line midi skirt. Those of you who have been following the blog for a while will have seen this before, as it has been photographed quite a few times on here.

Top- New Look, Skirt- Pop Up Shop
Shoes- H&M, Necklace- Topshop,
Handbag- H&M

The main thing I love about this skirt is the colour, yellow is such a perfect summer tone and really stands out from all the black, denim and leather that are everywhere at the moment.
However the other reason I love this skirt is the fact that it is A line which a the great style for my pear shape figure, as it comes in at my narrowest part of my waist and again it is nice to mix things up in the current sea of skater and midi skirts.

I styled the look with a simple white vest and bright neon thread necklace to keep the colourful summery theme going and I think it works really well.
I picked up the skirt in a pop up fashion shop here in Manchester 2 /3 years ago and
I always go back to this skirt every year and always find new ways to style it to keep it up to date- do you have a summer essential piece you always rely on?

I hope you like the look and like me I am sure you are glad it is Friday tomorrow? This week has been soo busy and I have been up and down to London today with work editing a fashion film so I am practically falling asleep while I write this, but hey weekend soon!

Happy Thursday!

Sunday Slouch!

Hi Guys,

Today's look is so casual, it is verging on "house comfy" but I really just felt the need to strip it all back and go for something super relaxed this weekend.

Shorts- Bought in a boutique in Cannes(old)
Top- Vintage, Bag- Viva La Diva
Necklace- Newlook, Sunglasses- ASOS
Wedges- Primark

The outfit is really reflective of my weekend, as I have not done anything and I have loved it. Just chilled out at home, caught up on some blog reading, had a bbq, went for a run, painted my nails and did a spot of online shopping. I can not remember the last time I did this, as things have been so hectic of late, (especially with work) and then after this weekend, I am doing something every weekend till September!!
So it is important to enjoy the quieter moments and that is what inspired today's look.

These are my comfiest shorts ever, and I love the slouchy feel to them, it makes them perfect for day wear, and as it is more cloudy I went for my vintage breton top rather than a vest or crop top and it tied into my casual look better too. Everyone needs stripes in their wardrobe, I have said it before and I will say it again, they are not a trend, they are a clothing staple! They are also a style that is always on the high street, mine is a vintage number I picked up in London years ago, but Monki, Cos and H&M are always good bets for some classic stripes.
But, me being me, I am not content with but classic colours and had to add the pop of neon with the bag, just to lift it a bit- too much? What do you think?

Well, I hope you have all had nice weekends, whatever it may be. I ma heading out next weekend so am currently trying to pick an outfit, with little success, so will get back to the wardrobe styling.

Happy Sunday!

Tribal Dance!

Hi Guys,

The title of today's post is inspired by some real 90's nostalgia, can anyone remember 2 Unlimited? While Tribal Dance was one of their hits and every time I pop this skirt on it is the first song that comes in my head. Plus in this summer weather, you can't beat a good dance tune!

Crop Top- Topshop, Tribal Skirt-Primark
Necklace-Primark, Sunglasses- ASOS
Sandals-Primark

I love this skirt, I featured it ages ago on here back when it was all cold and wet and I wore it with thick black tights, boots and a heavy jacket, but I always really had it earmarked for sunnier times, and here we are! #heatwave
It is such a bold loud print I just wanted to keep the rest of the look really simple so teamed it with a black crop top and once again my perspex necklace, that I can not stop wearing at the moment.
I really like this look and it was comfortable all day in this heat, what is good about the high waisted skater skirt is that you can wear a crop top with it and you are not showing off too much, just a hint and if you want to pull the skirt a bit you can too.

Although I must admit that when I have gone to edit these picks I have noticed some weird bra situation going on, so I apologise for the slightly wonky/squashed boobs, but I did not want to scrap the whole look, just because I am not 100% happy, non of us are, so I am not going to pretend I always wear the right lingerie!

I can not express how much I am loving this summer weather, it is fab, although I have been down in London shooting a fashion film for work this week and there were times it was bordering on ridiculous, especially in the studio. But I don't want to moan too much because really I am a sun worshipper!
Well, I hope you like my look and you all have lovely weekends planned? I am having a real chilled out one, which I am very happy about.

Happy Thursday!

Summer Lace/Summer Brights!

Hi Guys,
With all this amazing weather we have at the moment I am loving wearing all my summer clothes in as many combos are possible. So, today I decided to wear my new white lace top and my Topshop midi skirt, I have been wearing both of these separately for the past couple of weeks, but never together, so Today was the day to pair them.

Top- Bought on Holiday, Skirt- Topshop
Necklace- Newlook, Sandals- Primark
Sunglasses- ASOS, Bag- Primark

I bought this top on holiday in a little Spanish shop and I just feel in love with it straight away, there are soo many versions of this white lace/crochet on the high street this summer, so it is nice to have one that is a bit different and no one else will have. Shopping on holiday is perfect for having pieces that not only remind you of your trip, but also have a unique fashion favourite!
As you know I love this midi skirt, it has been my summer staple, it never goes out of shape and I actually feel that it is sucking me in (it is not) but every little helps! I like the combo of the two, it was nice to have a looser style top with the tight tube skirt, a good option for a Summer day with my family
It has been so lovely spending the weekend out in the sun, eating alfresco and catching up with friends and family. Back to it tomorrow busy week ahead, we are making a film for our new AW13 fashion collection at work- very exciting!
I hope you have all had lovely weekends in the Sun? I would love to know what you have been wearing in all this heat, are you mixing up your summer wardrobe?
Happy Sunday!

The Summer Dress!

Hi Guys,

Today's post is one of the best summer dresses I have found on the high street this summer and it was only £13 from Primark, I love the red and black print, it is just feels a bit different from the normal take on florals.

Dress- Primark, Hat-H&M, Bag-H&M
Necklace-Primark, Flatforms- Primark
Nails-OPI Can't find my Czech Book

I decided that this dress was screaming out for a hat, so paired it with my beloved black floppy which worked well with the black in the dress. And as there was a lot going on with the print, I decided to keep the  accessories really simple with this perspex necklace which I thought looked great, and is really on trend right now.

Lots of people have complimented me on this dress and have automatically thought it was from Topshop or Zara, so I have taken great satisfaction telling them the price tag. I think in all this good weather, you need a little bank of summer dresses to wear and at this affordable price you can have one.
What I also love about this dress is the fact that you can wear it to work, (as I did) or dress it up for a night out, or just a lunch  with friends, it is so versatile!

Well, I am still loving the warm weather, it feels so nice to be able to wear flip flops and summer clothes and sit out on my terrace and write blog posts (like now) everything is easier to do in the sun! I am very much a summer person, so I am loving it right now.
I am heading home this weekend, to go out for my friends birthday and visit my Grandparents in Scotland, so I better get back to the packing! Hope you all have lovely plans too, and be sure to check out my new June Favourites Video on my You Tube Channel!

Happy Thursday!

Peplums and Pencils!

Hi Guys,

Before I get started, I just wanted to wish you a Happy Heatwave!
Today's post is an outfit I wore on Saturday night, when I went out for a meal at Chester Race Course. As it was not during the day, I did not go down the fasinator route but opted for a glammed up peplum and pencil skirt combo.

Top- H&M, Skirt- Missgudied
Shoes-Newlook, Clutch- Miss Selfridges
Sunglasses-ASOS, Ring-H&M
Earrings-A Gift, Nails- Essie Too too hot

It has been ages since I wore a peplum top, as you know I have been loving crop tops recently, so my peplums have been relegated to the back of my wardrobe. However as I was going out for a nice meal, I decided that the best option would be a peplum, and then it meant I could breath out after the food! I love the styling of a peplum top and pencil skirt it creates such a gorgeous silhouette and is flattering on my pear shaped hips.

Florals have not been a print I have found myself wearing this summer, but I loved this print from H&M, I liked that fact that it was white based, which I think is more elegant that black with florals and the pops of coral keep the print modern. And it was a summer bargain at only £14.99, so even more of a reason to love it.

I would love to know how you are getting dresses up for nights out in this sunny weather? Sometimes you just want to throw on shorts and a vest and be done with it, well I do anyway.
I hope you are loving this weather, it is great to finally be able to make full use of the summer wardrobe, and I will be posting some of my summer work looks this week for you.

p.s Don't forget you can follow me on Instagram for more pics of my day to day fashions and general love of food, that seems to sneak on there a lot!

Happy Monday!

Acid Wash and Summer Knits!

Hi Guys,

It feels like it has been ages since I did a non holiday related outfit post, so I am really excited to show one of my newest and most beloved wardrobe pieces in Today's post- my new open knit summer jumper!

Jumper- Stradivarius, Skirt-Primark
Bag- Marisota, Necklace- Topshop, Sunglasses- ASOS
Wedges-Newlook, Nails-Essie Too too hot

I bought this jumper on holiday from Stradivarius one of my favourite European fashion shops, every year when I go abroad I always locate one and do some serious spending. I would describe it as somewhere between H&M, Mango and Zara, with a few Topshop esque pieces thrown in too. You can only get it online here in the UK, but if you have never checked it out I can really recommend it.

Anyway back to the jumper, I love the open knit style for the summer, as it is perfect in these hot/not so hot days. My favourite part of this top, however is the shoulders, which are cut out to create an almost bat wing style sleeve which is so unique and different and not anything I have seen on the UK high street. And that is what I love about shopping abroad or off the beaten track, you find gems that you can pull out of your wardrobe for years to come and no one will have it!
I really liked the effect of teaming it with my acid wash skirt, as it gave an edge and rawness that I felt clashed well with the jumper.

What do you think of the look? Have you shopped in Stradivarius before?

I hope you like the look and I hope you are having a good week? I am really hectic at the mo with work, so apologies if I am not posting as much as normal. It is a really exciting time at work, and I am hoping to share some of it with you in the next couple of weeks. However, I will be back in a couple of days to show you some more new summer purchases, which I have been loving!

Happy Tuesday!
